Photography Studies
Composition | Photo Editing | Lighting
These are finals and studies I did for my beginner and intermediate photography classes. Everything was shot in black and white to focus on the basic principles of photography and on using our camera settings to their full potential. We worked with a few different subjects, including lighting, composition, placement, and time and motion. All of the images were edited in Photoshop and Adobe Bridge, and the class also taught us the fundamentals of photo editing.
The final project was an independent project focused on the human face and facial features. I wanted to highlight the nuances in the expressions of different subjects, and I also wanted to show the perfections and imperfections of features, from eyes to noses. Each scar, freckle, or crinkle is illustrated through the composition. Each photo is a collage of a different subject and highlights what is special and unique about them. I spent a lot of time composing and cropping each photo to spotlight what I believed was the most important part, and arranging the pieces so that each one stands on its own while also creating a strong composition together.
